Community Futures North Fraser is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of local business and community leaders who bring diverse experience and a strong understanding of our region’s economy. Our Directors represent a broad range of industries and perspectives, helping guide the organization’s strategic direction, monitor performance, and ensure accountability to our stakeholders.

The Board strives to reflect the communities and economic sectors throughout the North Fraser region. Directors are selected through an application and nomination process, with appointments approved by the membership at the Annual General Meeting.

Directors serve one-year terms and may serve a maximum of nine consecutive terms.

Janessa Derksen
Mission, Business Services,
Chair

Janessa Derksen brings a strong blend of business operations, leadership, and community engagement to her role as Chair of the Board at Community Futures North Fraser. With post-secondary studies in Public and Business Administration and extensive experience supporting the Mission business community since 2016, she has built lasting relationships and helped local businesses and non-profits strengthen their operations.

As Operations Manager with Hudson Service Group, Janessa leads business operations, supports team development, and implements process improvements that enhance organizational performance. She is passionate about collaboration, economic resilience, and helping local businesses thrive through strong community partnerships. Outside of work and volunteer commitments, Janessa enjoys exploring the many trails throughout Mission.

Jenna Sholinder
Mission, Business Owner,
Vice Chair

Jenna Sholinder is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for business growth, finance, and leadership. Her professional background spans the mortgage industry, executive staffing, advertising, marketing, and nutrition consulting, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of business development.

In 2018, Jenna co-founded North Fraser Plumbing & Heating with her husband, Wade, helping grow the company into a successful local business through strategic leadership and a strong commitment to customer service. She is passionate about supporting local businesses and giving back to the community through volunteerism and board service.

Outside of work, Jenna enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with Wade and their two daughters.

Dan Schubert

Director

Dan Schubert is a lifelong Mission resident with extensive experience in business ownership, real estate investment, and community leadership. As the former owner of a successful mechanical contracting company, he understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities of growing a business through both organic expansion and strategic acquisition.

Dan has served on Mission’s Economic Development and Parks & Recreation Committees and remains actively involved in commercial and residential real estate investment and development. His practical business experience and long-standing commitment to the community provide valuable insight to the Community Futures North Fraser Board. Outside of work, Dan enjoys hiking and mountain biking with his wife and their four children.

Tom Osterberg
Mission, Real Estate Agent,
Director

Tom Osterberg is a licensed REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Executives Realty, specializing in residential real estate throughout the Fraser Valley. Prior to beginning his real estate career in 2008, he spent six years working in the finance industry, giving him valuable experience in financial planning and client service.

Tom is actively involved in his community through volunteer leadership, including his work with the Fraser Valley Realtors Charitable Foundation, which supports organizations serving at-risk youth throughout the region. He is passionate about strengthening the community and creating opportunities for local families and businesses to succeed.

Tom is proud to call Mission home and is always looking for ways to give back.

Kevin Allan

Director

Kevin Allan is a lifelong Mission resident, entrepreneur, and business owner who operates multiple retail businesses throughout the Fraser Valley with his wife. As a business owner, he understands the challenges entrepreneurs face and is passionate about supporting others as they build and grow successful businesses.

Kevin currently serves as Vice Chair of the Mission Association for Community Living and values giving back through community leadership and volunteer service. His entrepreneurial experience and commitment to the local business community make him a valuable member of the Community Futures North Fraser Board.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family and working on their hobby farm.

Josh Bruneski

Josh Bruneski is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for helping organizations identify opportunities, improve efficiencies, and achieve their strategic goals. With experience launching and growing businesses across multiple industries, he brings both entrepreneurial thinking and practical business expertise to the Community Futures North Fraser Board.

Josh enjoys collaborating with business owners to develop innovative strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability. While involved in several business ventures, his primary focus is serving as Creative Director and Producer for his marketing company, where he helps organizations build strong brands and connect with their audiences.

His experience supporting businesses at every stage makes him a valuable advocate for entrepreneurship in the region.

Karen Hoekstra

Karen Hoekstra is the founder and CEO of k’pure Naturals, an award-winning Canadian skincare company recognized for its commitment to organic, minimalist products and sustainable business practices. What began as a simple kitchen experiment has grown into a thriving international brand carried in more than 150 retail locations across Canada. As an entrepreneur and mother of four, Karen understands the determination, innovation, and resilience required to build a successful business. She is passionate about supporting fellow entrepreneurs, promoting sustainable business practices, and contributing to a strong local economy.

Karen’s entrepreneurial experience and community-focused approach make her a valuable member of the Community Futures North Fraser Board.

Nancy Maclean
Mission, Business Owner,
Director 

Nancy Maclean brings decades of business ownership, event planning, fundraising, and volunteer leadership to the Community Futures North Fraser Board. Throughout her career, she has dedicated her time to strengthening communities through initiatives such as coaching the Mission Thunderstompers youth jump rope program and organizing numerous fundraising events that have supported organizations including Zajac Ranch and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC.

After nearly 25 years operating the Sasquatch Inn, Nancy and her husband relocated to Harrison Mills, where they enjoy spending time with their grandchildren. Her experience building businesses, fostering community connections, and understanding the needs of rural communities provides valuable perspective to the Board.

Tabitha Ewert
Litigator,
Director 

Tabitha Ewert is a litigator with RDM Lawyers in Abbotsford, bringing a strong background in both law and accounting to her work. Raised in the Fraser Valley, she studied accounting at Trinity Western University before earning her law degree from the University of British Columbia.

Following five years of advocacy work in Ottawa, Tabitha returned to British Columbia to continue her legal career closer to family and the community she calls home. Her analytical approach, attention to detail, and financial knowledge provide valuable insight to the Community Futures North Fraser Board.

Outside the office, Tabitha enjoys hiking throughout British Columbia and spending rainy days with a good book.

        
 
 
    

Kendra Redekop
Mission, Business Owner

Director

Kendra Redekop is the co-founder of Shelter Ridge Build & Design, a family-owned custom home builder serving the Fraser Valley. With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, she has worked on a wide range of residential, commercial, and development projects. Kendra oversees client relations, pre-construction planning, budgeting, permitting, project management, and daily operations. She also serves as Chair of the Fraser Valley Canadian Home Builders’ Association Government Relations Committee, where she works alongside municipalities, industry partners, and elected officials to advocate for practical housing policy and improvements to the building approval process.

Her leadership, industry expertise, and commitment to strengthening the local business community make her a valuable member of the Community Futures North Fraser Board.
