Most importantly, they are great business advisers and mentors dedicated to working one on one with clients to help them in the best way possible.

Gwen Schmidt
Executive Director

As the Executive Director of Community Futures North Fraser, Gwen leads initiatives focused on economic development, business financing, and community capacity-building across the region. With a strong background in finance and community economic development, Gwen brings a practical, collaborative approach to supporting small businesses and strengthening local economies. Since stepping into the role, Gwen has helped expand Community Futures North Fraser’s reach and impact by building strong partnerships with local governments, business organizations, and community stakeholders. She also serves at the provincial level as a board director with Community Futures British Columbia, contributing to sector-wide strategy, policy, and governance.

Raised in Mission and now raising her family in the Fraser Valley, Gwen has a deep personal connection to the communities she serves. Her understanding of rural and semi-rural economies informs her leadership and reinforces her commitment to long-term regional prosperity. Gwen is actively involved in the community through board and committee service, including the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce, Harrison Agassiz Chamber of Commerce, and Tourism Harrison River Valley. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of North Fraser. 

Gwen holds a Certificate in Community Economic Development from Simon Fraser University, along with Certificates in Leadership and Management and Professional Communication from Royal Roads University. Her leadership style emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making.

Jeanette Calderone
Administration Director

As the Administration Director, Jeanette provides administrative support to the Community Futures North Fraser team and is responsible for day-to-day operations within the office. Her background is over twenty years at a local credit union in a variety of administrative roles. As a local, born and raised in Mission, Jeanette is excited to be supporting her hometown and helping to promote economic development in all the communities served by Community Futures North Fraser. She loves everything outdoors from hiking to paddle boarding.

Sim Brar
Business Development Officer
 Sim, our dedicated Business Development Officer, brings extensive expertise in fostering business growth, securing financial solutions, driving local entrepreneurs, and providing personalized financial guidance. With a background in banking, Sim adds valuable insights to his role. Passionate about positively impacting the local community, Sim excels at identifying opportunities, developing strategic financial plans, building strong relationships, and empowering businesses. Committed to the success and prosperity of the Mission community, Sim utilizes his skills and experience to make a lasting impact.

Holly Seeley
Marketing Coordinator 
 Our Marketing Coordinator, Holly was raised in Mission, British Columbia. She began her work in Marketing in 2021, helping to run the social media and marketing campaigns for the Mission Interact Club. From here she found her passion for marketing and helping within her community. Holly is excited to be able to work in her community in a way that promotes economic development and the success of small businesses.

Amanda Meggait
Program Director 
 Our Program Director Amanda moved to the Fraser Valley in at the age of 11 and currently resides in Abbotsford. In her former career she was an Administrator for a small business that served as Mission’s waste collection service provider for over a decade so is familiar with Mission and is happy to be working back in the area.  In 2021 she started her own small business helping people free themselves of pain (emotional, mental and physical) with the help of the Self Employment program so is familiar with Community Futures and happy to join such a great team.  She is excited to help support businesses in the area address their needs with all the great resources Community Futures has to offer!
