Financial Literacy for Women Entrepreneurs

This session will explain the tools and techniques of financial management for a business owner. Topics include budget creation and monitoring, cash management, product/customer analysis, planning/forecasting and trend analysis. This session will help participants use financial management tools to evaluate their business and make informed financial decisions. Some of the question this session will help you answer:  
    • What’s financial management?
    • What tools can help operate my business?
    • How do I determine if a product is profitable?
    • What is my most profitable product?
    • Who are my most profitable customers?
    • Why do I need a budget?
    • How do I create and use a budget?
    • What reports do I need?
    • How do I tell where my business is heading?

      Presenter: Simona Halmaghi, CPA , CGA is the owner of a boutique accounting practice with an office in Maple Ridge that serves the Tri-Cities and Fraser Valley areas. Simona specializes in small business tax, accounting and assurance services and has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years.

Non-Profit Boards that Work: Education Workshop

The Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a workshop for non-profit boards. The purpose of this training is to provide an interactive and hands-on learning experience for non-profit boards and executive directors in order for them to carry out their work with excellence and in line with best board practices. If you are on a board, or thinking about giving back by volunteering on a non-profit board (like Community Futures or a Chamber) this is a great learning opportunity.

New Downtown Location

Our new location is Unit C 7337 Welton, from April 1, 2015. The building is on the corner of Welton and Second, just behind the old Post Office. What was once the Buy-Low grocery store is now the center of entrepreneurial activity in Mission and Community Futures is there. Our phone number is the same.

4-H Loan Program Announced

Community Futures North Fraser has just initiated a special youth loan program for 4-H members. These loans provide financial support to members by loaning money for the purchase of marketable livestock – beef, swine, sheep, or other projects approved by the 4-H Organization. The loan is for a maximum of $1,500, and is intended for the duration of the project to a maximum of 12 months. If paid on time the loan is also interest free.
